A boys life was the first script I have ever read, and I found it be extremely interesting on various levels. The writing was phenomenal, more than likely the reason for the movies success. I thought the plotline was unique in it's form, and the characters were relatable yet very interesting. The script was extremely easy to visualize and I believe if I had been given the script as a director I would have read it several times before definitely agreeing to make it into a feature length. I think the story is simple, yet complicated where it needs to be. I enjoyed Melissa Mathison's use of description, and thought it wasn't overdone whatsoever. She has unique visual thoughts and proved it well. I too read this screenplay in one sitting, and found it to be a page turner. While the movie E.T. was one I thoroughly enjoyed as a child, I believe that watching it now will prove to be even more so.
Discussion question 1: How did you feel about the progression of Micheal and Elliotts relationship?: What are some examples of this?
Discussion question 2: What do you think the significance was with a divorced mother and the special relationship she had with her children? How did the addition of E.T affect their beliefs as a whole?
